Walnut Black (royal)

    Scientific name: Juglans Nigra

    Common names:  American Black Walnut, American Walnut, Black Walnut, Canadian Walnut, Eastern Black Walnut.

    At Saint-Georges Doors, we use a special Select grade especially sorted as per our own request. Walnut is then re-graded at every step of machining in order to produce a cabinet door with no sap wood on the face.  This careful selection is what we call Royal Walnut. All components are carefully inspected before the assembly of the  cabinet door.

    Specifications of the Royal Walnut:

    This grade is a carefully matched selection of the first grade of Walnut. The wood is matched in order to obtain a uniform general aspect.  This grade is specically recommended  for natural finishes.

    • No white sapwood on the face
    • Color can vary from creamy gray, gray brown to a  dark chocolate brown depending on the tree.
    • Possible presence of pin knots
    • Dense wood easy to polish and to stain.
    • Commonly used for cabinet doors, mouldings, cabinetry, turnings, gun stocks, musical instruments furniture and flooring.
